I loved this book! This is the kind of book I have been thinking for a long time that someone should write. It just lays it out there simply but not simplistically. It explains all those things so many of us have heard and learned over the years but weren't maybe quite sure how to apply them. Also, and probably most importantly, I think it will speak to people who have been saying things like "when I get my act together, then I can go back to church." So many people feel they aren't good enough. Part of that is the fault of Christians because we are too much like Liz and put up a brave front like life is always a bowl of cherries. But at any rate, you have shown folks they have permission to come before God warts and all and take that first big step to a relationship with him. I read it in three sittings, but I think I am going to go back through and re-read slowly and thoughtfully. Thanks for writing this. Rise Ruhl, Maryland |
Review by Katie Johnson The Right to God, by Ron and Jennie Dugan is an excellent read for anyone, from any walk of faith. It delves into the very depths of our relationship with God but is easy to read and understand, as God himself intended the Bible to be. The authors reveal that the path to God is not supposed to be a torturous experience in which others keep score on how you're doing in your religious walk. Rather, they share that God's love cannot be won by hard work and good deeds; that it is already present-for every person, without cost, no sacrifice required. You'll learn how to embrace God's love as you read this book, and will discover the truth about your right to Pray, to Forgive, to be Blessed, and even your right to Give. The authors point out the difference between ‘Falsifiers,' who would have you believe that if you don't follow their particular religious rules that God's love will be withheld, and ‘Healers,' who serve others so that they, and others, can come to be closer to God. The Right to God is about the intentions you hold in your heart. It calls them out, questions them, and provides a way to start again, scraping away misguided thoughts and feelings; to begin again, from a place of true simplicity and purity of thought as God intended. If you've ever struggled with your faith or felt like giving up entirely on churches, you need to read this book. It will change your life. Review by Shellie Bailey The Right to God, for Everyday People is all about your right to God and how you can develop a deeper spiritual walk with some basic principles from the Bible. In the world today, there are so many types of religions and many people out there telling you how to get to God. This book reminds us, God is there for everyone, no matter who you are and what you have done. He loves you, and he wants a relationship with you. In this book, the authors go through several issues, which we are either not taught or taught based on someone's opinion. With all the rules and regulations today on what it means to be a "real Christian," this book stands out to those who are seeking, asking and eager to walk personally with the Lord. It addresses the importance of you, and you alone, learning and living for God, not needing anyone else to do it. To some this book may be controversial, but for me it was pure enjoyment. I would recommend this book to anyone who feels they do want a closer relationship with God, but do not feel they deserve the right to one. Shellie Bailey is an aspiring Christian Fiction Writer currently working on her first novel. She is a current student of the Christian Writers Guild where she is refining her craft. Review by Toni Star I just finished reading "The Right to God" and found it to be a very interesting read. The concept of having a right to God at first seems simplistic and ordinary, but after giving this phrase careful thought, I found that the words enter deep into the soul and offer a beginning insight into how precious and wondrous "the right to God" actually is. I particularly liked the chapter on Healers and Falsifiers for there is a distinct difference between the two. Healers, according to this book and to the opinion of others, bring healing, truth and unity to those around them, while falsifiers are false prophets, demanding religious leaders and dividers who often twist the word of God. The other chapters on forgiveness, prayer, giving, being blest and most importantly, words that say we have a right to God, are insightful and words that, when digested with faith, can bring joy and peace to the reader. A very worthwhile book! Toni Star Toni is a Christian, who loves to write and particularly loves to guide others toward a closer relationship with God. She has found over the years that she doesn't have to struggle to find God, because He lives within her. Toni's latest book, The Twisted Life of Julia Knight, is available on Amazon. Click here!
